We are open all week -- sign up with classroom teachers.

The Media Center is staffed by the Media Specialist on

  • Tuesdays, 8 a.m.- 3 p.m.
  • Wednesdays, 8 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Clubs may use the Media Center after school.

  • individually with a pass from a teacher
  • individually before school, starting at 8 a.m., and after school until 3 p.m.
  • individually at lunch: food is allowed in the Media Center, clean-up is mandatory!
  • as a class, one class per period, when the teacher has signed up for the Media Center and is present
  • in groups of four from a class, with a pass; if the Media Center is full, they will be asked to return to class
Circulation of Materials
  • Books circulate for two weeks and can be renewed for additional two-week periods.
  • Magazines can be checked out overnight, except for current issues, which stay in the Media Center.
  • Reference materials do not circulate overnight.
  • Teachers may check out materials for an entire semester.
  • Overdue fines are not charged, but students are expected to pay replacement costs for any lost items.
  • Students need to clear their Media Center obligations before they can graduate.
Atmosphere

The Media Center will be a welcoming and pleasant place for all students and staff. The focus is on leisure reading, quiet study, and research. Students are allowed to talk quietly as long as they do not distract others. All school policies and rules apply in the Media Center. The couch is for sitting and reading only!!

We  provide a variety of books and magazines, with an emphasis on fiction and literature reading. Books are available for many reading levels, on topics that are relevant to Stone students. From a school computer you can search the collection using the online catalog. For help finding a good book, ask a Media Specialist or check the What Do I Read Next? page.

Special Events Suggestions and  Donations
Our collection of books and magazines is growing. We welcome your suggestions on new books to add or topics you would like to learn more about. Donations of current fiction and nonfiction books are also welcome!
